My Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti review, written after three nights in a Suite with Spa Bath at the end of September 2026. I cover the suite, the 5,000 sqm spa, dinner at Michelin-starred Grual, our hike to Lago Nero and everything I would want to know before booking.

There are some hotels that are beautiful, and then there are hotels that make you slow down.
For me, Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti was very much the latter.
I have just got back from three nights at Lefay, timed for the end of September when summer was turning into autumn across the Italian Dolomites. From the moment we arrived, everything felt considered: the architecture, the setting, the food, the service and, of course, the Lefay SPA.
After staying at hotels across 58 countries, I expected Lefay to be a beautiful base for exploring the mountains. I did not expect it to become the reason for the trip.
We hiked, spent hours in the spa, booked treatments and ate at every restaurant in the resort. The food ended up being the biggest surprise of the whole stay.
I left completely relaxed and already planning a return. Below is my honest Lefay Dolomiti review: what I loved, what could be better, who it suits and the tips I would give a friend before they book.

First Impressions
One of the first things I noticed about Lefay was how naturally the resort fits into its surroundings.
The architecture doesn’t try to compete with the mountains. Instead, the landscape becomes part of the design, with large windows and carefully chosen materials creating a strong connection between the interior spaces and the Dolomites outside.
The overall aesthetic is contemporary and luxurious without feeling overly formal, which I really appreciated.
I had spent most of this year on the road, and what I wanted more than anything was somewhere beautiful that actually let me rest. Lefay had that feeling within minutes.
There is luxury everywhere, but it isn’t constantly being presented to you.
Instead, the focus is on the surroundings, wellness, food and simply having time to slow down.
Our Suite with Spa Bath
I booked the Suite with Spa Bath, and it set the tone for the whole stay.
The suite was exactly the kind of room I want from a luxury mountain resort: comfortable, spacious and somewhere that felt like part of the experience rather than simply a place to sleep.
The design has a contemporary Alpine feel, with natural materials and a warm, understated aesthetic that works beautifully with the surrounding landscape.
And after spending the day hiking or exploring the spa, having a beautiful room to return to made the experience even better.

The Spa Bath
The spa bath was one of my favourite features of the room.
After a day in the mountains, it was the perfect way to unwind and added another element to the wellness experience that runs throughout the resort.
If you’re booking Lefay specifically for a wellness escape, I would definitely look at the different suite categories and consider what features are most important to you.

The Lefay SPA: My Massage and Facial
If there is one part of Lefay that deserves serious time during your stay, it’s the spa.
The Lefay SPA World covers 5,000 square metres, with pools, saunas, fitness facilities and relaxation areas. The spa is designed around Lefay’s wider wellness philosophy, incorporating elements inspired by Classical Chinese Medicine alongside Alpine surroundings.
But the size of the spa isn’t what made it memorable for me.
It was the feeling of being able to completely switch off.
I booked a full-body massage followed by a facial.
The massage was the standout. After weeks of travel and a day on the trails, it felt like a proper reset rather than another hotel treatment I would forget by dinner.
The facial was equally relaxing and was a lovely complement to the massage.
My advice
If you’re visiting Lefay, don’t make the mistake of treating the spa as something you squeeze into your itinerary between excursions.
Give yourself time for it.
The whole point of staying at Lefay is being able to combine exploring the Dolomites with proper relaxation, and the spa is a huge part of that experience.
The resort itself recommends booking treatments in advance to ensure availability.

Hiking to Lago Nero in Val Nambrone
Although I loved spending time at the resort, one of the highlights of the trip was getting out and experiencing the mountains.
During our stay, we drove around 45 minutes from Lefay into Val Nambrone, then hiked roughly 30 minutes up to Lago Nero, a high alpine lake at around 2,233 metres close to the Cornisello lakes.
And it was absolutely worth it.
The view from the top was worth every step.
The dramatic mountains surrounding the lake are exactly what I had imagined when planning a trip to the Dolomites. After spending time at Lefay enjoying the spa and restaurants, being outside in the mountains gave the trip a completely different dimension.
Is Lago Nero worth visiting?
Absolutely.
If you’re staying at Lefay and enjoy hiking, I’d definitely recommend making time for it.
The hike itself wasn’t particularly long, but I would still allow plenty of time for the journey, photographs and enjoying the scenery rather than treating it as something to rush through.
My tip: ask the hotel concierge about the current conditions and the best route before setting off, particularly outside the main summer season.
The concierge can also arrange excursions and transfers for you, which is worth doing as mountain access changes with the seasons.

Dining at Lefay Dolomiti: Dolomia and Grual
This was one of the biggest surprises of my stay.
The food at Lefay was outstanding, and I do not say that lightly.
We visited all of the restaurants at the resort, and the quality of both the food and service was outstanding throughout.
That’s quite unusual for a resort with multiple dining options. Often, one restaurant becomes the obvious standout while the others feel secondary. That wasn’t my experience at Lefay.
Everywhere we ate, the food was beautifully presented, thoughtfully prepared and, most importantly, genuinely delicious.
The service was also consistently excellent.
Dolomia
Dolomia is the resort’s main restaurant and one of the places where the surrounding mountains really become part of the experience.
The restaurant offers a more relaxed dining environment while still maintaining the quality you’d expect from a luxury resort.
We had several meals here during our stay, and I was impressed every time.
Breakfast was also a highlight, particularly because it gave us a chance to start the day slowly before heading into the mountains or spending time at the spa.

Grual
Then there is Grual, Lefay’s Michelin-starred restaurant.
The restaurant takes its name from the mountain behind the resort and focuses on ingredients and flavours from the surrounding region. It was awarded its first Michelin star in 2024.
The experience is more gastronomic and elaborate than Dolomia, and if you enjoy fine dining, I’d definitely recommend including it in your stay.
Lefay currently offers an eight-course tasting experience at Grual as part of its Dolomiti Gourmet & Relax package.
My advice: don’t rush your Grual experience. Give yourself time to enjoy the full meal and treat it as part of your evening rather than simply dinner.
One thing to note if you’re travelling with children: the resort currently states that access to Grual is restricted to guests aged 12 and over.

The Service
Service can make or break a luxury hotel experience.
At Lefay, I found the service consistently excellent throughout our stay.
From the restaurants to the spa and the general hotel experience, there was a level of attentiveness that felt professional without becoming intrusive.
That balance is important.
Luxury hospitality isn’t necessarily about having someone constantly asking if you need something. Sometimes it’s simply knowing that everything is being taken care of.
That was how Lefay felt to me.
What I Loved Most About Lefay
After three nights, these were the things that stood out most.
The food
This deserves a mention of its own.
Every restaurant we visited delivered outstanding food and service.
The spa
The size and variety of the spa make it easy to spend a significant part of the day there, and my massage and facial were both excellent.
The setting
Being surrounded by the Dolomites makes Lefay feel completely removed from everyday life.
The design
Contemporary, understated and luxurious without feeling cold.
The service
Consistently excellent across the resort.
The balance between wellness and adventure
I loved being able to spend one part of the day hiking through the mountains and another completely switching off at the spa.
That combination is what makes Lefay particularly special.
What Could Be Better?
After three nights, I found very little to criticise, but there are a few things worth knowing before you book.
The main thing to understand is that Lefay is designed as a mountain retreat, rather than a hotel in the middle of a lively town.
If you’re looking for nightlife, shopping or a busy apr猫s-ski scene directly outside your hotel, this probably isn’t the right choice.
It is also a premium price point. Lefay is a five-star wellness resort and the rates reflect that, so it makes the most sense if you will actually use the spa and restaurants rather than treating it as a place to sleep.
Getting there takes some planning. Pinzolo is a true mountain destination, so factor in the drive or a transfer, and I would recommend having a car if you want to explore places like Lago Nero.
But if your idea of the perfect Dolomites trip involves beautiful scenery, hiking, wellness, exceptional food and a peaceful luxury environment, that’s exactly where Lefay excels.
Who Is Lefay Dolomiti Best For?
I would particularly recommend Lefay for:
- Couples looking for a luxury mountain escape
- Wellness-focused travellers
- Food lovers
- Hiking enthusiasts
- Skiers
- Travellers looking for a peaceful retreat
- Anyone celebrating a special occasion
- Travellers who want to combine outdoor adventure with serious relaxation
It’s particularly well suited to people who want the mountains during the day and a luxury wellness experience afterwards.
How Long Should You Stay at Lefay Dolomiti?
I stayed for three nights, which gave me enough time to experience the resort, visit the restaurants, enjoy the spa and explore the surrounding mountains.
However, if you’re travelling specifically for wellness, I’d personally stay four or five nights.
Three nights is enough for a taste of the Lefay experience.
Four or five nights would give you more time to properly explore the Dolomites while still having enough downtime to enjoy the resort.
When Is the Best Time to Visit Lefay Dolomiti?
I visited at the end of September, and I absolutely loved this time of year.
The summer crowds had eased, the landscape was beginning to transition towards autumn and the mountains looked incredible.
It also felt like the perfect season for combining outdoor activities with spa time.
Of course, Lefay has a completely different appeal in winter. The resort sits within the Madonna di Campiglio ski area, making it particularly attractive for a ski and spa trip. Lefay currently also offers a Ski & Spa package combining accommodation, a ski pass, treatments and access to the spa.
So if you’re choosing when to visit, I’d think about what you want from the trip:
Summer: hiking, nature and outdoor activities
Autumn: quieter atmosphere, changing landscapes and wellness
Winter: skiing, snow and spa
Spring: mountain scenery and a quieter escape
My Lefay Dolomiti Tips
1. Book your treatments in advance
If you already know you want a massage or facial, book it before arriving. Lefay specifically recommends reserving treatments in advance.
2. Give yourself enough time at the spa
Don’t book a one-night stay and expect to experience everything.
I’d recommend at least three nights.
3. Make time for the mountains
Lefay is incredible, but don’t spend your entire trip inside the resort.
Our trip to Lago Nero was one of my favourite memories.
Not sure where to start? Here are the best things to do near Lefay Dolomiti.
4. Book Grual
If you love food, make a reservation at the Michelin-starred Grual.
5. Don’t over-plan
One of the best things about Lefay is being able to slow down.
Leave some time in your itinerary with absolutely nothing planned.
Things to Do Near Lefay Dolomiti
Lefay is the kind of place you could happily never leave, but the area around Pinzolo is too good to skip. These are the experiences I’d book around a stay, all within about an hour of the resort.
Rafting in Val di Sole
About 40 minutes north, the Noce River is one of the best rafting rivers in Europe. It’s a fun contrast to slow spa days, and there’s a family friendly option too. The season runs roughly from May to September.
A Private Boat on Lake Garda
Riva del Garda is about an hour south, and the change of scenery is incredible, with olive groves and lemon trees after the alpine peaks. For the luxury version, book a private skippered boat to Limone and Malcesine.
Sunset E-Bike Ride Above Lake Garda
The ride up to Punta Larici leads to one of the most photographed viewpoints over the lake, and an e-bike makes it easy.
TrentoDOC and Wine Tasting
Trentino makes some of Italy’s best sparkling wine. If you loved the wine pairing at Grual, a cellar visit is the perfect half day.
Alpaca Trekking Near Trento
One of the highest rated experiences in the region, and an easy, memorable morning out.
Winter: Sled Dogs in Madonna di Campiglio
Visiting between December and March? Driving your own sled through the snow just 20 minutes from Lefay is a once in a lifetime experience.
Getting to Lefay Dolomiti
The resort is about 2.5 to 3 hours from Bergamo, Verona and Venice airports. Book your transfer in advance so you arrive relaxed.
Is Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti Worth It?
Yes. Absolutely.
After three nights, Lefay was one of those hotels I did not want to leave.
The combination of luxury, wellness, nature and exceptional food makes it much more than simply a beautiful hotel in the Dolomites.
It’s a destination in its own right.
I loved the suite, the spa, the treatments, the restaurants and the setting, but what really made the stay memorable was how well everything worked together.
You can spend the morning hiking through the Dolomites, return to the resort for a full-body massage, relax in the spa and finish the day with an exceptional dinner.
It’s a pretty difficult combination to beat.
And the food deserves another mention.
I have stayed at beautiful hotels in 58 countries, but it is rare for the dining to become one of the reasons I would return. At Lefay, it was.
